It also offers a private bathroom and a sitting area with new sofa & love seat, pub table & chairs, microwave, refrigerator, coffee pot & two 50" TVs. Porch sitting is a MUST at this Victorian scenic country location in Goshen, AL! We would love to host you & your family at Pond View Loft.
The Pond View Retreat is labeled in Airbnb as the entire house because it has a private entrance, two private bedrooms and a private bathroom. It is not the entire house, but is a popular large private retreat within This Old House perfect for families or close couples or friends. (If you need more or less lodging space or need the entire house for lodging or events, see information at the end of this narrative.)
The Pond View Loft is a part of a 6200 square foot Victorian Era home built in 1912; the same year the Titanic sank.

-One private bathroom upstairs
-The entire Private upstairs loft.
No one can enter your space except you and your group. As is true with similar lodging accommodations, you will see our housekeeping staff and other guests on the wraparound porch and massive grounds.
This beautiful home also houses other retreats available to rent. It is nestled in the country with an exquisite view of a 9 acre pond. You may fish for a small charge and if you get permission in advance from Michelle. The Pond View Loft has a handicapped accessible private entrance off an amazing wrap-around porch that leads to the large private entry and private downstairs bedroom. Go up the gentle flowing stairs and find the most remarkable beautifully appointed open loft with private bathroom and sitting area (with sofa and love seat), dining area plus one king bed, one queen bed and two twin beds. Parking is available close to the ramp or if you don’t need the ramp, there is free parking in the front circular drive. Serenity, Tranquility and Peace describe a few of the emotions you will evoke sitting on the porch of this scenic country location in Goshen, AL approximately 14 minutes from downtown Troy, AL. This private OPEN loft style space overlooking the pond and beautiful pines simply screams retreat. The Pond View loft offers sleeping for eight. The front side of the loft can host mom and dad with a king bed & dormer area with chair overlooking the pond. Or mom and dad can take the private downstairs bedroom (described below). Kids large and small will enjoy the couch, love seat and 50" TV in the loft. Beside the sitting area is the quaint kitchenette space that houses a new pub table & chairs, microwave, refrigerator, & Keurig coffee maker, with two cups of coffee for your enjoyment. Two twin beds and a queen bed are situated on the right side of the loft to offer comfy sleeping for all. Downstairs is a private bedroom that houses a queen bed. The private bedroom offers a 50" TV and recliner for your enjoyment. The bathroom for the Pond View Loft is located upstairs for you convenience. Two towels and bath cloths per guest will be provided along with a travel size shampoo, conditioner, soap, & makeup remover cloths for your convenience. Enjoy visiting as you and your family enjoy lounging in the spacious loft or take advantage of the private downstairs bedroom.
A few games and a basketball are provided so the guest can get the full affect of the wonderful spacious shared yard. The vast shared porches afford the opportunity to gaze at the sparkling pond while swinging or rocking the day away; all while listening to the songbirds . Along with pond gazing you could enjoy a picnic on the porch at the patio table. Bring your board games an engage in a little competition under the shade of the immense porch! In the evenings the night sky is remarkable. Imagine no city lights and the stars and moon reflecting into the pond. All of this for you to enjoy at the Pond View Loft.
Dining is only minutes away. The Old Barn Restaurant (a 100+ year old converted mule barn) is just up the hill from This Old House. It is open from 4pm to 8pm Thursday - Saturday with full menu of steaks, seafood, sandwiches, salads, fine wine and a full bar. and serves country homemade cooking on Sundays from 11am - 2pm. The Old Barn has won the award for Alabama’s Best Steak and the best Catfish Award for Alabama. The famous Chicken Shack is only a 18 minute drive in Luverne, AL. Just off 331.
This getaway would be perfect for long term corporate rental, an overnight hunting trip get away, stop on the way to the beach, ball tournament, football game, or rent all four retreats in This Old House for a family reunion, holiday celebration, or bridal party. The Pond View Loft at This Old House is in the desired neighborhood of The Land of Goshen in a beautifully restored 1912 Country Victorian home secluded in an award-winning Alabama Treasure Forest just minutes from highway 231 in Troy and highway 331 in Luverne and convenient to Enterprise and Dothan and Interstate 65 in Montgomery and Greenville. From the wrap around porches and swings you can listen to the birds sing and watch the hummingbirds and butterflies plus remarkable wildlife like fox squirrels, Eastern wild turkeys, and whitetail deer in the massive yard. Just like The Pool House & Wildflower Retreat, the Wildlife & Wildlife Executive , the Pond View Retreat at This Old House is located near the Conecuh River. Enjoy the beauties of the country as you swing on the porch and take in the breathtaking views!
Free and Ample Parking is provided near entrance of Pond View Open Loft. Driving is the best way to see the beautiful countryside. You could be enjoying a savory meal from the award-winning Old Barn Restaurant on Thur. - Saturday nights or home cooking on Sundays from 11am to 2pm. Only 15 minutes away is Sips Beer Garden and Our beloved Troy University is only a 12 to 15 minute drive away.
Guest will enjoy the amazing handicapped accessible wrap-around porch and vast yard that is shared space. The porch houses two swings, numerous rocking chairs, a small patio table and chairs all of which overlook a stunning view of the family’s 9 acre pond. Free parking spaces are provided near the Pond View Loft. No animals allowed! No Smoking or vaping inside. Please do NOT throw cigarette butts down on the ground.
Guests will be able to contact us at any time during your stay. We want to make you as comfortable as possible while you are here at the Pond View Loft, but will not interfere with your privacy.
This Old House has been featured recently in Troy Life Magazine and over the years in Alabama Treasured Forest Magazine and other publications. The family is recipients of the esteemed Helene Moseley Conservation Award for outstanding forestry and wildlife management. They are also active in the Tree Farm program.
The famous Old Barn Restaurant is within walking distance of this magnificent Retreat space. Only minutes away is Downtown Troy that is home to Sips beer garden; along with other dining such as B. Graves., Francesca’s , and Mama Goldberg’s. The Square in Troy also offers a great shopping experience at Glow Boutique, Pink Parlor, Rustic Linen, and Hazels Gifts just to name a few. Troy University is only minutes from the Square. Don’t miss out on the exciting Trojan Events! Troy Recreation Department is a 15 minute drive from Retreat One. There you can enjoy a leisure walk around a paved trail, let kids play on playground or watch several games of soccer, baseball or softball depending on the season. Looking for a trip back in time, just go visit Pike Pioneer Museum. It is a 19 century farmstead comprised of old buildings, horse drawn jail, and steam train. Just a few minutes from the museum it Butter & Egg Adventures where you can enjoy zip lining and a variety of other outdoor adventures. You won’t want to miss the opportunity to experience the best of both worlds…country serenity with city convenience in only a 13 minute drive. -Check out time is by 11:00am.
-Check-in is at 3:00pm. or after. We do allow for a requested early check in for an additional charge if the property is clean and ready.
-For parties or events by renting This Old House Only , you should submit details and gain approval by messaging Michelle. There will be additional charges for parties and events. If you need catering service, we suggest you consider our family who own The Old Barn Restaurant which is right up the hill from the retreat or Sips on the Square for pizza and other great food.
-You must let us know the total number of guests who will be coming. There is a $10 per person per night additional charge for guests after four.
-Do NOT lean or climb on railing in Loft or on staircase.
-Children must not run on porches, inside the retreat or be excessive noisy inside. The massive grounds provide ample fun space for running and playing.
-Closely supervise children at all times and be aware that there is a pond near the garage and across the road.
-Fishing is allowed for $10 per day per person. Message us with number who want to fish and day please. We will message you details.
-Please leave muddy and dirt shoes outside.
-No vaping or smoking inside. If you smoke or vape outside please respect those who object or who might have allergies. Leave no trace of smoking by properly disposing of butts and leaving ashtrays clean.
-Parking: When you get to This Old House, turn right into the circular drive & park in the circular drive or to the right side of the house. (If you need the handicap ramp, it is on the left side of the house near the garage.)
-If you break the house rules you can be asked to leave without a refund.
-Please take trash out to can on left side of the garage when you leave.
-Wash any dishes used and put them back in place.
-Turn out all lights when you exit.
-Leave thermostat set -Heat – 62; AC 75
-Please notify Michelle when you depart through the app.
Short Term:
Full refund for cancellations made within 48 hours of booking, if the check-in date is at least 14 days away. 50% refund for cancellations made at least 7 days before check-in. No refunds for cancellations made within 7 days of check-in.
Long Term:
Full refund if cancelled within 48 hours of booking and at least 28 days before check-in. After that, the first 30 days of the stay are non-refundable.
